Outreach Services

Our Outreach services enable us to reach community members within our service area of Lowndes, Lanier, and Echols counties. We can visit local events, schools, and neighborhoods to reach people where they are.
Librarian Visits
Our librarians visit schools, daycares, organizations, and groups for story times, resource instruction and demonstrations, and promotion of library services. Librarian visits are available by request when staffing allows. Contact the SGRL branch nearest you to request your visit!
Traveling Library
Our Traveling Library, Matilda, is a mobile library unit that allows us to bring library services to you. With Matilda, we can create a pop-up library anywhere! Custom designed and built for your needs, the vehicle is a 24 foot Sprinter van. The Traveling Library is outfitted with reliable wi-fi, laptops, tablets, 10 Chromebooks, a projector, fun technology to explore, 6 tables, 10 benches, and, of course, a bookshelf with a 1,000 book capacity. To help power electronic needs of the vehicle, Matilda is outfitted with solar panels for a renewable energy source. With the traveling library, you’ll see us in the community issuing library cards and holding story times. Our librarians will showcase our digital resources so you know how to access our e-book collections, language learning programs, live virtual tutoring, and more! They’ll also lead technology demonstrations with the on-board Chromebooks, 3D printer, and drones.
